Liverpool star Alexander-Arnold could still feature for the club before the season runs out as the absentee Joe Gomez remains sidelined through injury.

Alexander-Arnold marks a significant step towards returning to playing for LFC, having spent the previous five weeks out of action nursing an ankle injury.

The Reds’ vice-captain took part in the club’s training session on Wednesday as his teammates and manager, Arne Slot, continue preparations for their trip to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City.

Trent Alexander-Arnold could feature for the Reds between now and his expected exit to Real Madrid when his contract expires, after taking a huge step in his recovery from injury.

The Englishman’s move to join the Los Blancos on a free transfer seems almost inevitable, with major developments in talks over recent period.

However, he could still play a part in the run-in to the Premier League crown for Slot’s men after joining up with an almost fully fit squad at the AXA Training Centre.

Liverpool’s only absentee from the first team being Joe Gomez, who is keen on coming back before the end of the season but is still far off from doing so as he continues rehabilitation following a hamstring surgery.

Darwin Nunez was also part of the team that trained after being out for the 2-1 victory over West Ham United on Sunday, due to a brief illness.

As per AnythingLFC on X, “Trent Alexander-Arnold and Darwin Nunez both training with Liverpool squad today.

Still no Joe Gomez.”

Alexander-Arnold’s involvement with the squad on Wednesday implies the right-back is closing in on a return to action.

Slot has called upon some of the club’s youngsters to join the senior squad in training, with Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni amongst those allowed to do so.
