Sepp van den Berg has admitted he would jump at the chance to rejoin Liverpool and has wondered whether he should have stayed at Anfield last summer.
The defender impressed for the Reds in pre-season before joining Brentford in a £25m deal.
Before being sidelined by a recent knee injury, the Dutchman had been a virtual ever-present for the Bees.
Starting 24 of his 25 appearances under Thomas Frank, he has impressed both at centre-back and right-back for the West London outfit.
Signed from PEC Zwolle in a £1.3m deal back in June 2019, Van den Berg only made four senior appearances for Liverpool before spending the majority of his Reds career out on loan.

He enjoyed temporary stints with Preston North End, Schalke 04 and Mainz 05 before sealing a permanent Anfield exit last summer.
It was Ven den Berg’s decision to leave in pursuit of starting opportunities.
“But before the pre-season started, I already indicated to the club that I wanted to leave and play minutes.
“After the pre-season, Liverpool indicated that I had done so well that they wanted me to stay.
It was all my choice, I am happy that I now play in the Premier League every week.
“I would be lying if I said that I did not dream of returning to Liverpool one day.
That's football, you don't know.
“I did well in the pre-season and I really saw myself playing for the club, but not with the credit that I now have at Brentford.
