Alexis Mac Allister says Jurgen Klopp used to treat him like a son.
The Argentina international, who joined in a £35million move from Brighton, was one of four new additions to Liverpool's midfield last summer alongside Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo.
He enjoyed a positive debut campaign, racking up 46 appearances in all competitions and helping the Reds win the League Cup.
He began the season in a defensive midfield role before being deployed further forward, at which point Klopp appeared to develop something of a soft spot for the 25-year-old.
Afterwards, Klopp reached out to Mac Allister to congratulate him. "Klopp texted me after the final [against Colombia]," the midfielder said.
