Bia's comments will also come as a blow to Manchester City, who are said to have targeted Cambiaso back in January as part of a mid-season overhaul of Pep Guardiola's playing squad.

And that could put City and Liverpool on a collision course this summer if both clubs are in the market for a new right-back.

As the noise and speculation over his future continues to grow, Alexander-Arnold is sidelined with an ankle injury.
