Liverpool are reportedly lining up a huge bid for Alexander Isak after the Newcastle striker’s superb display against them in the League Cup final.

The Swedish international volleyed home the second goal in his side’s 2-1 win and was instrumental in his team ending their 55-year wait for a domestic trophy.

The 25-year-old’s future at St James’ Park remains the subject of speculation, though.

Isak has 58 goals in just 100 club games for the Geordies and is expected to be the subject of huge interest this summer.

However, given the current market, it’s expected to take a bid of around £100million to prise him away.

Darwin Nunez’s future appears in the air after his erratic campaign, while Newcastle were heavily linked with Joe Gomez last year.

Club sporting director Paul Mitchell has also reportedly registered an interest in soon-to-be free agent Jonathan David.

Capturing Isak would not only go a long way to diminishing that frustration but would severely boost Arne Slot’s forward options.

Regardless of whether they make the top four, Newcastle are expected to try and persuade Isak to sign a new deal once the season is over.
