Liverpool have been urged to let Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez go this summer as long as they can swap the pair for two specific replacements.
Now, former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has weighed in on the debate over the two stars.
“I mean if you said Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez went and Alexandr Isak and Antoine Semenyo came then I don't think it's the worst swap in the world if we're playing fantasy football here," he told OLBG.
"But realistically, Liverpool wants to keep hold of their best players, and Mo Salah is their best player, so hopefully, he doesn't leave”.
Isak delivered his latest eye-catching display in Newcastle's League Cup final win over Slot's side on Sunday.
Semenyo meanwhile, has been instrumental in Bournemouth's quest for European football this season, but like Newcastle with Isak, the Cherries are bracing themselves for bids for the Ghanaian international.
Owen lauded the quality of both stars, adding: "Alexander Isak, that would just be an incredible move if Liverpool could get him, but I'm sure virtually every team wants him and Newcastle are desperate to keep him, so that would be an interesting one.
“I like Semenyo at Bournemouth, who plays in the same position as Salah.
I like him, a younger version, but definitely got energy, scoring capabilities and a good player."
Semenyo only signed a new five-year contract with Bournemouth in July last year.
He's not the only one of Andoni Iraola's players to be linked with a move to Anfield, with Milos Kerkez also expected to be targeted by Slot this summer.
