Liverpool should resist a move for Matheus Cunha in the summer - because Arne Slot's side simply don't need him, according to Gus Poyet.
The Wolves forward, 24, has been linked with a host of clubs in recent months after impressing in the club's bid to retain their Premier League status, registering 12 league goals and four assists.
Cunha was the subject of interest from Arsenal in the January transfer window before committing his future to Wolves by signing a new deal at the start of the month.
But Poyet doesn't think Cunha would improve Liverpool's side, telling Makthavare: "I know Liverpool have been linked with Matheus Cunha, but right now, they need nothing!
They’re seven points clear at the top of the Premier League and have a great squad, so I don’t think they need to make any big moves.
"Cunha is a great player and is having a brilliant season, but all Liverpool have to do is keep winning football matches – which they are.
"Cunha would improve their squad, but by no means is he essential to Liverpool’s success; they already have everything they need from an attacking standpoint to win the Premier League and major trophies in the future."

Gus Poyet says Arne Slot and Liverpool don't need Cunha, who has a £62m release clause in his contract.
Clubs are likely to go back in for Cunha at the end of the season in the knowledge that his release clause would, theoretically, make a summer deal more attainable.
The Reds have only made two signings since Slot succeeded Jurgen Klopp last summer, bringing in Federico Chiesa from Juventus and Georgia goalkeeper, Giorgi Mamardashvili, who will arrive from AS Roma at the end of the current campaign.
The outcome of contract talks with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk is likely to determine how active Liverpool will be in the transfer market this summer, with all three set to become free agents in the coming months.
Talks with the trio are expected to continue between now and the end of the season as Liverpool bid to keep all three players at Anfield while juggling their title bid.
