Henry outlines Van Dijk importance

Former Premier League forward turned pundit Thierry Henry has outlined the importance of a new contract being sorted for Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, labelling him the 'most important player' at the club.

Van Dijk scored the winning goal in the closing stages of the West Ham match to move the Reds closer to the Premier League title.

Speaking on Monday night football, the former Arsenal man said:

"This is why I keep on saying this is the most important player to sign.

He said: ‘I want to score’, and he went to score.

I said, he’s the most important player at Liverpool.

Then you have the most valuable player is Mo Salah, he’s [Van Dijk] the most important.”
