Liverpool returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday as Darwin Nunez emerged as a second-half substitute to score two stoppage-time goals at Brentford.
The 2-0 victory at the Gtech Community Stadium, coupled with the weekend's other results, saw the Reds end the round of fixtures with a six-point lead at the top of the table and still with a game in hand over Arsenal and Nottingham Forest in second and third place respectively.
The Reds are back in action tomorrow night as Arne Slot's men welcome Lille in the Champions League and a draw will see Liverpool secure its place in the last 16 of the competition.
We'll also have updates from Slot's press conference and the Reds' open training session in Kirkby.

Harvey Elliott transfer stance
Liverpool is not considering accepting an offer for Harvey Elliott this month or in the summer, according to Football Insider.
Brighton and Borussia Dortmund have been linked with the 21-year-old this month as he struggles for game time under Arne Slot, although Elliott himself has insisted he doesn't want to leave Anfield.
And Slot is said to be keen to keep Elliott, seeing him as a key part of the Reds' side for years to come.

According to the Daily Mail, the Reds have been interested in the Brazilian, but he is now set to sign a four-year deal to stay put at the City Ground.

Konate's all done
The press conference is now over - some interesting comments from Slot and Konate there, especially from the latter on his contract situation.
We'll have plenty of reaction to the press conference as we build up to tomorrow's game against Lille.

Konate on whether he's close to a new contract
Who talked about that a few months ago?
I think one of the positives, especially for the teams in pot 3 or 4, that they also face teams from their own pot., and that gives them a bigger chance to win games.
For those teams, I'm 100% sure they think it's a step up, for the teams that are always in pot 1, I have to wait and see to give you an honest opinion on what I prefer.

Slot on Lille
I'm impressed, not surprised but impressed.
I think it was two or three years ago that I played the current manager when he was at Rennes with my former club, and then I was impressed by the way his team played.
A few weeks ago, when I hadn't seen them playing, I thought 'oh, they've beaten Atletico Madrid, surprise, they beat Real Madrid, surprise'c, but now I've seen many games of them and I'm not surprised anymore.

Slot on importance of finishing top of the Champions League standings
The most important thing every time we go out there, especially in front of our fans, we want to win a game.
With this new setup, you think that ending up No.1 is the best position, but because it's such a strange table, for example, PSG, I always think they are the hardest team to face, but they are low, so if you finish No.1 you could face them.

Slot on Darwin Nunez's consistency
I think it's the most difficult for a team, but also as an individual to find consistency.
Only a few players in the world are able to be at the same level every three days, and then there's a big group of players who are able to play very good many times, but not every single team.
I think he belongs to the group that is good many times, but the next step for him, it would be nice if he could go to the bracket of five, six, seven or eight players in the world that are outstanding every three days.
James Findlater
Slot on Thomas Frank calling Liverpool the best team in the world
His opinion means definitely something to me, because he's shown at Brentford how well he's done.
But I think it's far too early for me to say these things, we have to face a lot of teams.
Very difficult to judge the league table, but always nice to get compliments.

Darwin Nunez "very lucky"
Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez was "very lucky" not to be sent off against Brentford, according to the Sky Sports Ref Watch panel, which includes former Premier League official Dermot Gallagher.
Nunez was booked for taking his shirt off while celebrating his first goal and a couple of minutes later somehow avoided a second caution when he stood on the ankle of Nathan Collins.
Arne Slot's wincing reaction on the sidelines said it all...
thankfully referee Andy Madley let him off the hook, otherwise the individual boost of him scoring could immediately have been canceled out.
Liverpool's Uruguayan striker #09 Darwin Nunez celebrates after scoring his team first goal during the English Premier League football match between Brentford and Liverpool at the Gtech Community Stadium in London on January 18, 2025.
He has already admitted, though, that he will soon have a big decision to make on his future because he has barely featured under Arne Slot.
