The Reds face losing Alexander-Arnold for nothing next summer, whereas a January sale would see them receive a transfer fee of around $25million.
It is claimed by Marca that Madrid won't make any "crazy decisions" this month regarding its right-back issues, with Federico Valverde and Raul Asencio mentioned as possible stand-ins if the club is unable to tempt Liverpool to sell Alexander-Arnold during the winter window.

Barcelona 'watching' Luis Diaz
Barcelona sporting director Deco is keeping a close eye on Luis Diaz's situation at Anfield, according to Spanish outlet SPORT.
The Colombia international has been linked with a move to the Camp Nou over the past few months, but there are suggestions that Liverpool is looking to tie him down to a new contract.
Diaz's current deal expires in 2027, with the 27-year-old still on the same contract he signed when he arrived from Porto in 2022.
Deco is said to be waiting on Diaz, with Barca favoring him over other left-wing options like Rafael Leao, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Nico Williams.

Liverpool cuts Ramsay loan short
Calvin Ramsay has had his season-long loan at Wigan cut short, with the right-back returning to Liverpool.
The Scotland international made 12 appearances during his time with the League One club, but only made five starts during that time, and wasn't included in a matchday squad in the league since the end of October.
His return has now been confirmed by Wigan.
According to The Athletic's James Pearce, the hope is to get him back out on another loan later this month.

Federico Chiesa transfer stance
Arne Slot is reluctant to let Federico Chiesa leave on loan this month, according to the Daily Mail.
The Italy international has been linked with a move back to homeland during the January transfer window, with his opportunities at Liverpool having been limited so far.
A lack of fitness and Mohamed Salah's sensational form means Chiesa has made just four appearances since making the move from Juventus in the summer.
That has led to suggestions he is unsettled and could make a quick return to Italy, but Slot is said to want six attackers in his squad, with Chiesa still part of his plans.

Darwin Nunez transfer stance
Liverpool is unlikely to sell Darwin Nunez to AC Milan this month without signing a replacement first, according to the Daily Mail.
It has been reported in Italy this week that Milan has been preparing a bid for the Uruguay international, who has struggled with his form once again this season, leading to suggestions Liverpool may look to offload him soon.
The Reds are yet to receive any contact from the Italian side though, and it's claimed that they would likely want a replacement to be lined up first before considering letting Nunez go.

Dani Olmo considered
Liverpool is considering a free transfer for Dani Olmo amid the uncertainty surrounding his future at Barcelona, according to Sky Germany.
Olmo has been deregistered as a player at the Camp Nou due to Barca's ongoing financial problems, and he will be able to walk away as a free agent if the club is unable to get him registered again.
That could interest Liverpool, with the Reds having been linked with Olmo previously, while Arsenal and Manchester City are also touted as potential destinations.

Aston Villa is in talks with Borussia Dortmund to sign Donyell Malen, according to The Athletic.
The forward has been linked with a move to Liverpool previously, although Villa now looks to be trying to secure a deal, having already had an $18.6m (£14.9m/€18m) offer turned down.
Negotiations are continuing between the two clubs, with Malen said to be one of a number of candidates as Villa looks to strengthen its attacking options.

Real Madrid raising Alexander-Arnold offer
Real Madrid is now willing to meet Liverpool's asking price for Trent Alexander-Arnold, according to Spanish outlet Marca.
It's reported that having failed with its first bid, Real is now willing to reach $26m (£21m/€25m) in order to sign him this month, with AS having previously reported this figure as the one requested by Liverpool.
That seems to go against what's been reported in the UK, with reports this week claiming that the Reds have no interest whatsoever in letting Alexander-Arnold go in January.

More to come
That's it from Arne Slot - no doubt about where the focus will be after that press conference.
We'll have more reaction to his comments on Trent Alexander-Arnold throughout the day, and plenty more transfer news and rumors, so stick with us.

Will Alexander-Arnold stay this month?
I can tell you that he's playing on Sunday, and hopefully he brings in the same performances that he brought in for the last half-year, because I think everybody saw how great a season he had, how much he is here, how much he wants to win here.
I see him on the training ground every day, working his a** off, so he's fully committed to us, and he will play on Sunday.

Could Real Madrid interest destabilize Alexander-Arnold?
If it would destabilize players at Liverpool if other people talk about them, then we would really have a problem because if you play at one of the biggest clubs in the world, everybody - for 12 months - is talking about you, sometimes in relation to other clubs, that happens so, so many times for our players.
If that destabilizes them, then we would really have a problem, not only now but in the past six months.
