It’s nearly Christmas, and you know what that means - the January transfer window is just around the corner.
With Liverpool in the midst of a Premier League title challenge, it could be the perfect opportunity for Arne Slot to strengthen his side’s credentials.
Given Manchester City looks to be well out of the race already, there may be no better time for the Reds to strike.
There is of course the small matter of Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah’s futures to sort out, but there may also be an opportunity for Liverpool to revisit a failed transfer from the summer.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today, including what looks to be a huge Martin Zubimendi boost.
Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad)
Liverpool may have just had the path cleared to Martin Zubimendi, with The Athletic’s Sam Lee claiming Manchester City will not be looking at the Real Sociedad midfielder in January.
City sources are said to have indicated that neither Zubimendi nor Bruno Guimaraes are targets for the floundering Premier League champions, who have now lost nine of their last 12 games in all competitions.
The news comes as Zubimendi looks to have hinted he may be open to a move soon, having turned down the chance to join Liverpool during the summer.
The new Liverpool home shirt for the 2024/2025 season features a chrome yellow pattern design and is a modern take on the legendary '84 home shirt - a season which saw the Reds become European Champions for the fourth time in Rome and the first English Club to win a treble of major honours.
Now it’s suggested he is being lured to the Camp Nou, with Barcelona long-time admirers of the 27-year-old.
Liverpool.com says: It would be a blow if Liverpool were to lose Diaz, especially to one of their big European rivals
It is a tricky position for the Reds though with his contract, given he is probably deserving of a pay rise, but with the futures of Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold and Salah to sort out, they may well have to make a tough decision on Diaz and let him go if they can’t find an agreement.
