Liverpool transfer news as Luis Diaz price emerges amid new goalkeeper contract

Liverpool could consider selling Luis Diaz this summer if it receives an offer in excess of £60 million ($79 million) for the Colombian winger.

Diaz has made 45 appearances for the Reds this season, scoring 15 goals and registering eight assists, but he is out of contract in the summer of 2027 and has been the subject of persistent links with Barcelona.

Were Liverpool to keep hold of Diaz for another year, the likelihood is that the Reds would not be able to command anywhere near as high a fee for him as they would be able to this summer, considering potential suitors would know that he would be available on a free transfer 12 months down the line.

It is reported by Football Insider that Liverpool has held talks with Diaz over a possible extension to his current deal but that nothing has been agreed, and that the club could sell for the right price in the off-season.

Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr has also been linked with a move for Diaz, who has been at Liverpool for three and a half years after joining from Porto in January of 2022.

The report adds that Liverpool is expected to move for five new players during the transfer window, with a striker, a center-back, a left-back, a right-back and a holding midfielder all on the Reds' wishlist.

Meanwhile, Liverpool is expected to hand an improved contract to third-choice goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros

The 23-year-old has made two appearances for the first team this season, with one coming as a substitute appearance in the Premier League and in the other coming in a Carabao Cup win at Brighton.

Vitezslav Jaros of Liverpool

The Liverpool Echo reports that, while Transfermarkt data suggests Jaros' current deal is due to expire at the end of the season, he is in fact tied to the Merseyside club until the summer of 2026.

So rather than looking to hand Jaros a contract purely to keep him at Liverpool beyond this summer, the club is keen to reward him with improved terms to reflect his heightened standing in the squad.

Jaros has been at Liverpool since 2017, when he joined the club from Slavia Prague as a teenager, and he has worked his way up the ranks in recent years.

It remains to be seen what Jaros' role at Liverpool will be next season, with plenty of movement expected in that position over the summer.

Caoimhin Kelleher is likely to leave in search of regular game time, while the club has a decision to make on whether to retain Giorgi Mamardashvili as a back-up 'keeper to Alisson or send him out loan again, in which case Jaros could be promoted to the role Kelleher has occupied this season.
