Liverpool’s plan for the club’s current third-choice goalkeeper, Vitezslav Jaros, has been revealed.
The Liverpool goalkeeper has found minutes hard to come by at the club, given the quality of the other two senior goalkeepers at the club.
With Alisson Becker and Caoimhin Kelleher among the two best players in their position in the league over the last five years, it is not surprising that Jaros only made his debut this season.
The 23-year-old’s first game for the senior team came in October after he replaced Alisson in the 79th minute of a 1–0 away victory over Crystal Palace.
He made his full debut for the club a few days later, starting in a 3–2 away win against Brighton & Hove Albion in the EFL Cup.
With Liverpool set to welcome Giorgi Mamardashvili to the club, it is expected that the club’s goalkeeping department will experience a change.
Several reports claimed that Jaros will be allowed to leave for free at the end of the season.
It was thought that the Czech goalkeeper’s contract at Liverpool would be up this season.
However, Liverpool agreed a new term with Jaros last season, as confirmed by a recent FA document detailing how much the Reds spent on player agents.
The document also confirms that seven other contracts were updated over those 12 months, including fellow goalkeeper Harvey Davies.
His recent contract shows how highly Liverpool rates him despite his lack of first-team opportunities.
That said, the Reds’ do not plan to sell Jaros and are planning to send him out on loan next season.
This is according to Czech publication Infobal, who claim that Liverpool already have plans in place to loan out the 23-year-old to a club in one of Europe’s top-five leagues.
Jaros has been lauded as a ‘terrific’ talent, with the goalkeeper impressing in his two appearances for Liverpool this season?
But game-time will be hard to come by given the fact that Liverpool will potentially have three world-class goalkeepers in their ranks this summer.
