Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes may have to unpick all his great work at Bournemouth if the Reds are to raid his old club.
Liverpool will be able to assess several of Bournemouth’s key men when the sides collide at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday in a huge Premier League clash.
Hughes was the brains behind Bournemouth’s capture of Milos Kerkez for just £15million from AZ Alkmaar in July 2023.
Kerkez’s value has rocketed this season because of his starring role for Bournemouth and the Hungary left-back has two goals and three assists.
Antoine Semenyo is another one of Hughes’ finds and the Ghana forward cost just £10.5million from Bristol City two years ago.
Semenyo has bagged seven goals and added three assists this season and he is valued at £50million because he can play anywhere along the frontline(
He has already contributed two Premier League goals for Bournemouth and is only going to get better.
.
Their form over the last 11 Premier League games of that sequence matches Liverpool’s and they have taken 25 points from 33.
Bournemouth also recorded statement wins in their last two games, trouncing Newcastle 4-1 at St James’ Park before smashing Nottingham Forest 5-0 at the Vitality on Saturday.
With the Champions League berths likely to go down to the top five, the Cherries are just a point outside those places and well on course to enjoy the best season in their 126-year history.
