Michael Owen has urged Liverpool to complete an "incredible move" for Alexander Isak while suggesting Antoine Semenyo could be a long-term successor for Mohamed Salah.
Salah is out of contract at the end of the season and, with no resolution as yet regarding talks over a new deal, is set to leave on a free transfer in the summer.
Liverpool are in any case expected to overhaul their forward line with Darwin Nunez attracting interest from Saudi Arabia and question marks over the long-term futures of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa.
Newcastle United forward Isak, who scored the winner against the Reds in the League Cup final on Sunday, has been touted as a potential target for Liverpool during the forthcoming transfer window.

And former Reds favourite Owen has pointed to both the Sweden international and Bournemouth winger Semenyo as giving Arne Slot's side a fresh look in attack next season.
"I think if he (Salah) was to go, Liverpool would look to replace him or find another attacking player, because I think Darwin Nunez will probably go as well," said Owen.
“There's lots of alternatives out there but no-one can replace Mo Salah.
There's no-one out there that is going to get his numbers.
“There's been a few rumours lately about different players.
Alexander Isak would just be an incredible move if Liverpool could get him, but I'm sure virtually every team wants him and Newcastle are desperate to keep hold of him, so that would be an interesting one.
“I like Antoine Semenyo at Bournemouth, who plays in the same position as Salah.
I like him, a younger version, but definitely got energy, scoring capabilities and a good player."

Speaking exclusively to OLBG.com, Owen added: “That being said, you can't replace Mo Salah.
I mean if you said Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez went and Alexander Isak and Antoine Semenyo came then I don't think it's the worst swap in the world if we're playing fantasy football here.
"But realistically Liverpool want to keep hold of their best players and Mo Salah is their best player so hopefully he doesn't leave."
