This Wednesday will see Arne Slot host Everton at Anfield for the first time since taking the place of his predecessor, Jürgen Klopp.

The last fixture between the Merseyside rivals saw a late equaliser from James Tarkowski followed by red cards for both Abdoulaye Doucouré and Curtis Jones after a brawl broke out between the two at full time.

Liverpool’s last two matches saw them crash out of the Champions League against PSG in the round of 16 and lose the Carabao Cup final tie against Newcastle United five days later.

After a two-week international break, the Reds will be hoping to return to winning ways and show the form that helped them establish their 12-point lead over Arsenal.

However, with the international break comes the risk of injuries to players and it appears as though Liverpool have fallen victim to this with injuries to Ryan Gravenberch and Alisson Becker with the pair pulling out of their respective national teams.

Alisson suffered a “suspected concussion” against Colombia on the 21st of March but may still feature in the Merseyside derby should the Liverpool staff deem him fit enough.

Gravenberch too may feature against Everton on Wednesday with the Dutch international team labelling his departure from the national team as “precautionary.”

The midfielder has been key in Liverpool’s team this season, surprising and impressing many with his consistently outstanding performances this season.

With that being said, here’s our predicted XI for Wednesday night’s derby.

XI: Alisson (GK) – Quansah, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson – Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboslai – Salah, Gakpo, Diaz

Though both Alisson and Gravenberch pulled out of international duty, we expect them to return to the starting XI for Liverpool.

Conor Bradley will soon be returning from injury, but we suspect Wednesday may be too early for him to start for the Reds and therefore have Quansah to continue at right-back.

Arne Slot more or less confirmed the above during his pre-match press conference early on Tuesday morning.
