Welcome to our live coverage of Liverpool v Everton at Anfield. Kicking-off at 8pm, the final Merseyside derby of the season is shaping up to be another cracker.

The Blues snatched a point the last time the two teams met in February in what was the last fixture ever to be played between the rivals at Goodison Park.

James Tarkowski's 98th-minute equaliser ensured honours ended even at 2-2 and maintained Everton's unbeaten Premier League run that now stands at nine matches. It is a run that has effectively ensured their survival ahead of the club's big move to its new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

But for Liverpool there is still everything to play. The leaders need 16 points from their final nine games of the campaign to win the title.

They are overwhelming favourites to do that. However, Arsenal showed they are not throwing in the towel just yet with a 2-1 triumph at home to Fulham last night that meant they closed the gap on Arne Slot's table-topping side to nine points.

Will the Reds respond with a big victory tonight? Or will the Blues frustrate their neighbours once again?

Paul Gorst, Ian Doyle, Theo Squires, Joe Thomas and Chris Beesley will be at Anfield for us to bring you all the pre-match build-up, including team news when it drops at 6.45pm, followed by an in-game commentary stream and the best post-match reaction and analysis.

Full time: Liverpool 1-0 Everton

A massive three points for the Reds, who restore their lead to 12 over Arsenal and now need just 13 from eight games to be champions.

Pickford can't get there

Pickford is up for it.... he's under Young's cross as well but Kelleher pushes it away and Liverpool survive.

One last chance

Ndiaye's cross is blocked and Everton have a late corner...

Everton need composure as Mykolenko wins his battle

Everton are pushing forward in hope here but earn the jeers of the home end when Mykolenko's ball forward bounces beyond his target. Everton need more composure here if they are to find the magic to equalise.

Meanwhile, Mo Salah has come off - another derby in which Mykolenko has done a really good job on him.

Liverpool sub

Here comes Wataru Endo. Mo Salah makes way.

Six left

Six added on.

Last throw of the dice by Moyes

A last throw of the dice by David Moyes as he brings on a fifth substitute Youssef Chermiti for Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Liverpool sub

Luis Diaz makes way for Cody Gakpo.

Diaz shot blocked

Diaz shot is blocked inside the area, huge shouts for hands from the Kop. Nothing doing. He should have laid on Nunez earlier for my money.

Last 10

Into the last 10 minutes here at Anfield.

Everton switches

So, how are Everton now lining up. Young has gone to right midfield, Iroegbunam is alongside Gueye and Doucoure is either playing up top with Broja, or just off him.

Triple change for Everton

Armando Broja is the next change for Everton. Ah, a triple change. Young and Iroegbunam also on. Garner, Alcaraz and Beto

Liverpool sub

Nunez coming on for Jota.

Everton have to do better from set pieces

So, Ndiaye comes on for the first time since he was injured in the Goodison derby. His right knee is heavily strapped after that medial ligament injury. He goes to the left with Alcaraz moving to the right.

Everton wion a corner down on the left and they could really do with a great delivery from Garner here. It tests Kelleher, who palms it out for a corner on the other side, which Garner will also take. It finds Tarkowski at the back post but is cleared amid a bit of a scramble.

Last 20

We're into the last 20 now and still no sign of a Liverpool change. As I type, I see Darwin Nunez being readied, actually. Not sure who that will be for, but Jota is the smart bet.

Ndiaye comes on

Everton top scorer Iliman Ndiaye enters the action. He replaces Jack Harrison.

Quality needed with the final pass for Everton

Everton are still getting themselves into encouraging positions on the counter and for all their strength going forward, we've seen already tonight thart Liverpool can be got at. The final ball from the visitors has let them down though on several occasions, and that can make a crucial difference in fixtures like this against opponents of qualty.

Meanwhile, Ndiaye could be poised to come on.

Jota booked

Jota booked for protesting a decision he didn't get, right in front of the linesman. Think it was Mykolenko who had the shirt off his back, but no foul.

No gameplan change

Everton's gameplan won't change, you suspect. They will still be happy to sit in and counter. It has brought them some joy so far tonight, so Moyes will see no reason to move away from it just yet.

The perils of the offside rule

Interesting one, that.

DIaz was in an offside position when the pass came in to him, but Tarkowski's bungled interception meant the ball never really went near him so the current rules mean that's play on.

It then dropped to Jota who did the rest.

A different challenge for Everton now

I was just going to say that Mykolenko got hurt a few moments ago, blocking a shot but having recovered, the Everton left-back sticks to his task of keeping tabs on Salah. Then in a separate piece of play, he makes an interception to deny the Liverpool star man.

However, Liverpool of course have just found a breakthough thanks to Jota. There will be questions marks about how Blues captain Tarkowski dealt with the first ball into the box. Referee Barrott spent the time the Reds were celebrating, talking to Branthwaite about something. Everton had defended well up until that point, but it's a different game and a different challenge now.

He wears the No.20

The Jota song is reverberating around Anfield now. Feels like a massive moment for the No.20 that goal. Liverpool lead with just over half an hour to go now.

Jota!

Jota wriggles through a few challenges and buries it. 1-0 Liverpool! A huge moment for the Reds. Pickford given no chance and boy how he and the rest of the team needed that.

GOAL! Liverpool 1-0 Everton (Jota)

It's there!

Better

Bit better from Liverpool as Mac Allister sweeps one over the top early for Salah. He is eventually flagged offside but they are moving it quicker at least.

Pickford denies Gravenbach

The Kop shouts "shoot" and Gravenbach lets fly from distance. Pickford parries it away and Branthwaite is brave to get to the ball first on the rebound and head it out for a corner with Salah ready to pounce.

Everton keeping their heads

Everton are keeping their heads - for now - while Liverpool are probing. The Blues have had some chances on the counter but they need to improve their quality of pass. They certainly haven't looked daunted though at facing their table-topping neighbours.

Liverpool unsure

Liverpool just looking a bit unsure of themselves and their patterns at times. It's one-way traffic and there's plenty of time but they could do with a decent chance or two.

Alcaraz tries another ball over the top

I'm told that Jamie Carragher said Liverpool's defence were making Beto look like Didier Drogba in the first half.

Well, if only the Everton striker could finish like the legendary former Chelsea player.

Alcaraz tries to get more joy by playing an early ball over the top but this time, Ibrahima Konate just does enough.

Underway

Huge chants for Divock Origi as Jordan Pickford takes his place in the Kop End goal. Second half underway.
