After defying all pre-season expectations and dominating for nearly the entire campaign, Liverpool are one point away from claiming a record-equaling 20th top-flight crown.

The Reds stand on the brink of Premier League glory as they host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday, April 27 (4:30 PM BST).

Their triumph has been coming for a long time, as they have led the league since matchday ten,  a stat that easily makes a mockery of the claim by some bitter fans that they have been lucky this season.

Arne Slot’s men could have been crowned champions in midweek had Arsenal lost.

But the Gunners managed to draw 1-1, with the team now given the chance to seal the deal at Anfield, which seems much more fitting.

A draw or win would secure their 20th top-flight title, equalling Manchester United’s record and marking their first championship since 2020.

For Spurs, the match is a dead rubber in a dismal domestic campaign, with manager Ange Postecoglou already shifting focus to the Europa League semi-finals.

While the title could be clinched this weekend, fans must wait until Liverpool’s final home game against Crystal Palace on May 25 for the trophy presentation, adhering to Premier League protocols that prioritise celebrations at the last home fixture.

This mirrors the 2019/20 season when the Reds lifted the trophy in an empty stadium due to pandemic restrictions—a wrong this year’s Anfield crowd will finally right.
