Virgil van Dijk's new two-year Liverpool contract was announced by the club on Thursday, putting an end to months of speculation surrounding his future.
The terms of his deal are believed to preserve his standing as the best-paid defender in Europe, with a monstrous weekly wage of £400,000 ($529,000).
Liverpool's supporters will have no issue with Van Dijk pocketing that amount of money if he continues to perform at the incredibly high level that he has done since first moving to Merseyside in January 2018.

Losers
The are no real losers from Van Dijk staying at Liverpool, but the players who may benefit the least might be the Reds' back-up center-backs.
Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah look set to spend another season as reserve options, unless they leave the club this summer
Having said that, were Van Dijk to have left the club at the end of the season, it is unlikely that Arne Slot would have gone into the 2025-26 campaign with Gomez or Quansah partnering Konate in the center of defense, and the Reds would surely have signed an established top defender to replace the Dutchman.
The only real losers from this one are Liverpool's opponents, who are now facing another two years of having to get past Van Dijk in the Reds' backline.
