Liverpool and Newcastle have held talks over a deal for Anthony Gordon as the latter scramble to meet the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules (PSR).
It's believed that Newcastle need to make sales before June 30 to avoid falling foul of said rules and a potential points deduction.
Mirror Football understands they approached Liverpool over Gordon but talks over a deal broke down when it was suggested that Jarell Quansah could move in the opposite direction.
While Liverpool are admirers of Gordon, they are unwilling to lose Quansah off the back of the young defender's breakthrough campaign last year.
.
French giants Paris Saint-Germain are also admirers of Gordon, who joined Newcastle in January 2023.
Gordon, who is currently at Euro 2024 with the England squad, won Newcastle's Player of the Year award last term after a strong maiden season with the Magpies, racking up 11 league goals and 10 assists in 35 matches.
