It appears that Liverpool are about to lose one of their academy stars to Premier League rivals Arsenal.

While most fans can argue that Liverpool have been a bit suspect and less competitive in terms of signing senior players, there is no denying that the Reds have been one of the most active and prudent sides in signing of youngsters.

The club secured a massive coup when they managed to sign Rio Ngumoha from club rivals Chelsea.

They also signed Alvin Ayam last summer and have secured the long-term futures of some of their most exciting academy players.

However, it has not always been smooth sailing for Liverpool when dealing with youngsters.

The Reds lost youngster Luca Furnell-Gill last month, with the 18-year-old central defender joining Tottenham in the January transfer window.

They are likely to lose another of their highly-rated young forwards to another London rival, this time, Arsenal.

Liverpool wonderkid Cornelius Akaunu is reportedly set to join Arsenal in a shock move.

The youngster was said to be on a move to Tottenham?

But it looks like Arsenal have moved ahead in the race for the player.

The youngster is on trial at Arsenal and recently featured in a friendly U17 fixture as part of his trial.

Akaunu reportedly played as a right winger and helped Arsenal to a 3-1 victory in that game, which caught the eye of the club’s scouts.

He is eligible for a scholarship deal next season and is expected to leave Liverpool after spending over seven years at the club, joining as an U-9 player in 2017.
