Liverpool youngster Tyler Morton is attracting interest from clubs in Germany, Spain, Netherlands and in the Premier League.

According to reports, Bundesliga side RB Leipzig have registered the strongest interest in the 21-year-old midfielder after back-to-back seasons out on loan in the Championship.

Morton spent the last two campaigns on loan in the second tier with Blackburn Rovers and Hull City, making a combined 87 appearances with three goals and nine assists.

The 21-year-old has a total of nine senior appearances for Liverpool, all in the 2021/22 season, with his last game in a Reds shirt coming in March 2022 in the FA Cup.

The Times report that there is big interest from ‘virtually every club’ in the Championship to land the Liverpool starlet on loan again this summer.

However, there is every chance the Reds could cash in with Sevilla, Feyenoord, Eintracht Frankfurt and a number of Premier League sides also said to be keen.

His future may lie in the hands of new Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who is due to meet the majority of his players when they report for pre-season training at the start of July.

But the return of transfer guru Michael Edwards could well see the Merseyside club complete another bit of shrewd business to help boost their coffers this summer.

Following news of Jurgen Klopp’s exit as manager, former sporting director Edwards was brought back as Liverpool’s new chief executive of football.

Edwards’ best work from his previous spell was undoubtedly selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for £142million, which enabled Klopp to build a team which went on to collect Premier League and Champions League titles, plus a full collection of domestic cups, the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup.

But it was with the club’s promising academy players and fringe stars where he also did the business, as he helped make Liverpool a fortune with a long list of shrewd sales.

Among that list of clever negotiating was selling strikers Danny Ings, Dominic Solanke and Rhian Brewster, goalkeeper Danny Ward and defender Ki-Jana Hoever for a combined £88.5m.

Hoever’s exit to Wolves also saw Diogo Jota move the other way, with the deal seeing Liverpool pay around £30m net for the Portuguese star.

The current price tag on Morton - who only signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool 18 months ago - is unclear.

But with defender Sepp van den Berg said to be rated at £20m, it would be fair to say the Reds would not let another homegrown talent go on the cheap.

While Championship clubs are eager to sign the England Under-21 international on loan, it is claimed Leipzig are interested in a permanent transfer.

Leipzig finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season, securing Champions League football for the next campaign, which could factor into Morton’s decision on where he wants to play in 2024/25.

The two clubs have a healthy business relationship too, having agreed a £60m deal for Dominik Szoboszlai last summer, while Fabio Carvalho also moved to the German club on loan.
