Jonathan David has opened up to Jamie Carragher about his future amid interest from the Reds and several other Premier League sides.

Liverpool have several players in their sights ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer.

Several options are being considered in all areas, with the Reds keen on assembling a squad for Arne Slot that will help him consolidate what has been a brilliant season.

Despite the disappointment of the last few weeks, which led to exits from the Champions League and the loss in the Carabao Cup final, Liverpool are on course for a successful season, with the Premier League title almost guaranteed.

However, Liverpool are not planning to rest on their laurels.

As a result, Liverpool could look for cheaper alternatives.

Lille striker Jonathan David is one player considered an option for the No.

He has scored 23 goals this season, while only Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe recorded more goal involvements than he managed in 2024.

It is that end product that is catching the eye of Liverpool and clubs across Europe.

Another factor that makes David an attractive prospect is that he is set to leave Lille as a free agent this summer when his contract expires.

However, it appears that although Liverpool’s interest in the forward is genuine, as David Ornstein confirmed, the 25-year-old appears more interested in moving elsewhere than coming to England.

Speaking to former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher in the ‘It’s Called Soccer!’ podcast, David revealed that he is more open to a move to La Liga than the Premier League.

“To be honest, I think I can adapt to every League,” he admitted.

“Every league has their differences.

I think the Premier League is a lot faster and more physical than all the other leagues.

“But I grew up watching a lot of La Liga.

I wouldn’t say that would be my preferred league, but I think that’s a league that I enjoyed watching the most… I think one day, I would like to play there?
