Liverpool's plans for next season became much clearer after it was confirmed that Virgil van Dijk had signed a new contract with the club.
These last few months had seen speculation ramp-up over whether or not the Reds captain would put pen-to-paper on a new deal, or leave for nothing this summer.
It was confirmed on Thursday morning that van Dijk has now signed a two-year contract extension, which will run until 2027.
The update comes less than a week after it was announced that Mohamed Salah had, also, agreed fresh terms with the Reds on a two-year deal.
Now that van Dijk has committed his future to Liverpool for another two years, the Reds can start planning what their defence will look like beyond this season.
Although, the France international is out of contract in the summer of 2026 and is about to enter the final 12 months of his deal.
Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool over the past few weeks
The centre-back has a £50million release clause in his contract and is likely to be a player of interest for a host of clubs this summer, meaning Liverpool could have a battle on their hands to try and get a deal over the line, if the interest turns out to be genuine.
Liverpool also have Jarell Quansah and Joe Gomez as centre-back options in their squad
The Hungary regular is on the Reds' shortlist of left-back targets, but is not the only player being considered by the Reds.
If Liverpool do sign Kerkez, it would also raise questions over the futures of Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas in the left-back role
