The Premier League is regarded as one of the best leagues in the world.
With such popularity comes a lot of money and the league tends to boast some of football’s priciest players.
However, with most leagues, the difference of price tags between the players at the top of the division and the bottom is vast.
Manchester City’s Erling Haaland was already one of the most expensive footballing assets on the planet, but after signing a new ten-year-contract this season, you would expect a world-record transfer fee to get him out of such a deal.
A new list has been revealed by the CIES Football Observatory that takes into account the length of a player’s contract, but also the players’ potential.
Therefore, Erling Haaland tops the list for the Premier League, as they estimate his worth to be around £188million-£239m.
Cole Palmer claims second spot, with his estimated worth around £95million-£120m.
Bukayo Saka comes in at third, with Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa making up the top four of the Premier League’s most expensive players.
Liverpool then feature in fifth place and it is a player that may surprise you – Ryan Gravenberch.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract due to end, and Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk’s age, the 22-year-old Dutch midfielder is officially Liverpool’s most expensive player.
The CIES Football Observatory value Gravenberch between £71million and £90m.
This puts him above one of Liverpool’s top reported transfer targets this summer Alexander Isak as he takes up the sixth spot in the list.
The remainder of the top ten is made up by Rasmus Hojlund of Manchester United, Bournemouth’s Ilya Zabarnyi, Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and Spurs’ Brennan Johnson.
Ryan Gravenberch has enjoyed a hugely impressive season under new manager Arne Slot.
Currently deployed in the holding midfielder role, he has become a crucial part of Liverpool’s success this season, as he has made that position his own.
Struggling at times during his first season at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, it appears that Arne Slot has found the key to unlock Gravenberch’s magic and is reaping the rewards as a result.
