Liverpool travel to Everton on Wednesday night to contest the last Merseyside Derby to be played at Goodison Park.

The match is set to be an emotional affair for all involved as the home stadium of the Toffees has created some incredible derby moments, which will now be taken to their new ground in Bramley-Moore Dock.

This fixture was originally booked for the start of December, however, stormy weather saw the fixture postponed and left Liverpool with a game in hand.

The Premier League leaders can go nine points clear of Arsenal with three points at Goodison Park and victory could be crucial to the Merseyside club winning the title this season.

Arne Slot rotated his Liverpool team heavily for their FA Cup defeat to Plymouth on Sunday, however, the Reds’ big stars are set to return on Wednesday night.

There are no questions over who will start in goal for Liverpool against Everton as Alisson is the undisputed number one for the Reds and has very rarely let his team down.

Trent Alexander-Arnold remains an injury doubt for Liverpool and will assessed over the next 24 hours, however, Slot is unlikely to risk the 26-year-old and will start Conor Bradley at right-back given the Northern Ireland international did not start against Plymouth.

Steve McManaman described Bradley as ‘fantastic’ following his performance against Real Madrid earlier this season as the 21-year-old looks to continue showing why he is the best person to replace Alexander-Arnold should the full-back leave Anfield this summer.

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES

Having been rested at the weekend, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate will return to the heart of the Liverpool defence with the centre-back pairing being Slot’s preference throughout the campaign.

Andy Robertson will complete the backline for Liverpool on Wednesday as Kostas Tsimikas featured for the Premier League leaders against Plymouth.

Liverpool’s midfield has picked itself this season as Slot has a clear preference when it comes to this area of the pitch.

Slot will use Ryan Gravenberch in the number six role as the Dutch star has featured in every Premier League match for Liverpool this season.

Alexis Mac Allister is highly likely to start in one of the eight positions for the Everton clash with Slot to partner the World Cup winner with Dominik Szoboszlai who impressed his Liverpool boss with his recent performance against Ipswich.

The Plymouth clash allowed Slot the opportunity to hand some of his forward stars who haven’t got a lot of minutes recently some game time.

Luis Diaz is the only player expected to keep his place in the starting 11, albeit in a more central role, as the Reds move back towards a more familiar front three.

On the left side of Diaz will likely be Cody Gakpo who has been in magnificent form of late and has really stepped up for the Reds this season.

Slot has brought the best out of Gakpo and the Dutch forward has completed a devastating pair of wingers at Anfield, as Mohamed Salah continues to shine on the opposite flank.

Salah is one of the first names on the Reds’ teamsheet and is certain to start for Liverpool against Everton as the Egyptian star goes in search of his 22nd Premier League goal this season.
