Liverpool will be hoping to finish the season strong after successfully tying Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk down to new contracts.
A saga that has distracted many for most of the campaign has finally come to an end as the star duo put pen to paper to keep them at the club for a further two years.
As a result, Liverpool will no longer have to immediately seek reinforcement to fill the big holes that those two players would’ve left in the team.
Instead, Liverpool can look to strengthen other areas of the pitch that are now more of a concern.
According to BBC Sport, Liverpool’s focus in the upcoming summer transfer window will be to Salah in Liverpool’s attack.
The online publication revealed that Alexander Isak is thought to be the club’s top target but his £150m could put Liverpool off.
Following the news of Salah’s confirmed contract extension yesterday, Arne Slot explained how he believes the idea of playing alongside Salah could convince players to make the move to Liverpool this summer.
Slot said: “If I put myself in the shoes of a player we might want to sign, it’s always nice to tell them that Mo has extended his contract.”
“That helps but what helps the most is that we kept a quality player who has scored, for seven or eight years in a row, so many goals for us.”
“As I said, football is a game where we are mostly judged on the goals we score and the ones we do not concede.
That’s for sure.”
Liverpool will be diving into the transfer market head-first this summer, with significant changes reportedly coming as they look to build on an impressive first season under Arne Slot.
