Liverpool took further control at the top of the Premier League table with a comfortable 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Wednesday evening.

Dominik Szoboszlai's first-half effort was followed after the break by an impressive Alexis Mac Allister strike as the Reds moved 13 points clear at the summit.

Liverpool have a rare weekend without a game before they turn their attentions to the Champions League with the round of 16 first leg clash against Paris Saint-Germain in France on Wednesday.

And here we look ahead to the changes Slot could make when his team are next in action.

Robertson return?

The chance to finally rest weary limbs after five intense Premier League games in 15 days should allow Slot to pick what he regards his strongest team for the assignment in the Parc des Princes.

That will undoubtedly mean Alisson Becker in goal ahead of Caoimhin Kelleher with Vitezslav Jaros third-choice between the sticks.

At right-back, with neither Conor Bradley nor Joe Gomez fit enough to return, Trent Alexander-Arnold is poised to continue although Jarell Quansah, who came off the bench for Alexander-Arnold in the last two games, is an option.

Kostas Tsimikas was preferred to Andy Robertson at left-back against Newcastle but the Scot has been first-choice in recent weeks and will be most likely to start.

Teenager Amara Nallo is suspended after his red card at PSV Eindhoven last month.

Trio in control

The midfield order was restored in midweek, with Ryan Gravenberch and Mac Allister the double pivot and Szoboszlai the number 10.

It would be a surprise if Slot veers from the trio in Paris, although he has options.

Youngsters James McConnell and Trey Nyoni both featured in the dead rubber at PSV.

Diaz decision

The big decision for Slot is how best to line up his attack.

All three have led the line in the Champions League at some point this season.

Mohamed Salah is the preferred option on the right with Federico Chiesa's only start in the competition coming when part of the much-changed team against PSV.
