Liverpool fans know what it feels like to lose key players.
Over the years, they’ve seen stars come and go.
From Fernando Torres to Philippe Coutinho, big names have left, and the club has had to rebuild.
Now, as the 2024/25 season heads into its final stretch, there’s growing concern about the future of some current stars.
Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold all have contracts running out soon.
Naturally, speculation is high.
Despite this, Liverpool remain focused.
They are fighting on multiple fronts, chasing silverware in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and Carabao Cup.
The uncertainty over contracts hasn’t derailed their ambitions.
And according to Luis Diaz, that’s exactly how it should be.
Diaz, now in his third season at Anfield, has been one of Liverpool’s key players this season.
After starring in the recent 2-1 win over Wolves, where he scored and won a penalty, he spoke about the importance of his teammates staying beyond this season.
The Colombian winger made it clear how much he values the players around him.
Luis Diaz opens on Liverpool stars’ contracts
“I’ve said it before.
They are super important for us,” Diaz told Telemundo.
“It’s up to the club, but hopefully they’ll stay because what they bring to the team is impressive.
He’s trying to give his best to the team.”
“Whether they leave on a high note or stay to make history, I’m glad to be sharing these moments with them.”
While contract talks will dominate headlines, Diaz insists Liverpool are keeping their eyes on the prize.
“We try to focus on ourselves first because we know what’s at stake,” he said.
“The manager also looks at each game and training session.
It’s important to stay calm and keep adding points because there’s still a long way to go.”
With Liverpool set to face Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final and a strong position in the Champions League, the focus remains on winning.
The contract situations will be resolved in due time.
For now, as Diaz says, it’s about enjoying the present.
