Paris Saint-Germain were left so shellshocked by Harvey Elliott's late winner at the Parc de Princes last week that boss Luis Enrique was forced to break with tradition in the dressing room after the match.

Liverpool were forced to weather a storm in the French capital in the UEFA Champions League last-16 first leg, with PSG taking 27 shots and seeing an inspired Alisson Becker make nine saves to keep them at bay before Elliott struck in the final minute.

It was a result that has clearly left its mark on the PSG players, who have spoken openly of their confidence that they will overturn the 1-0 deficit in the second leg, with reports in France that the squad weren't impressed by the Premier League leaders.

And Enrique admits he was forced to "make an exception" to his post-match ritual and speak to the players, such was their mood when they returned to the dressing room after the game.

The former Barcelona boss says it won't happen again, though, and backed his players to turn the tie around at Anfield.

Enrique said: "I am pretty convinced that every single one of my players wants to play.

We know what it means to play at Anfield, it is a historic stadium with a wonderful history and that is a huge motivation.

"Yeah, I have often told you why I almost never speak to my players after the game.

It is my view, I believe there is no point to it because the players are just thinking about the result but after the game against Liverpool I made an exception because I told them they did absolutely everything to get a result.

But I don’t think I will be doing it again.

"I don’t think Arne Slot has much doubts about our starting 11 tomorrow, I don’t pay too much attention to what is going on elsewhere.

No, I am not going to give away who is going to play or how but over the course of the two games we are going to see two of the best teams in Europe.

Certainly I think whoever goes through tomorrow will go to the final."

Enrique added: "There is always room to improve but circumstances changes.
