Manchester United haven't made the most convincing of starts to the season, but a win against Southampton on Saturday should lift the mood.

The Red Devils started the new Premier League campaign with a win against Fulham but lost consecutive games against Brighton and arch-rivals Liverpool before the international break.

Erik ten Hag's men travel to the south coast this weekend to take on struggling Southampton buoyed by the presence of several new summer signings and know that a win could kickstart their season.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest news from in and around Old Trafford ahead of Saturday's match against the Saints...

Ten Hag warned over signings

Paul Scholes has claimed that Andre Onana and Matthijs de Ligt haven't improved Manchester United's ability to play out from the back - despite being signed to do so.

The former Ajax duo were well known by Erik ten Hag from his time in the Dutch capital and he pushed to sign both players, with Onana joining last year and De Ligt in the most recent summer transfer window.

However, Scholes isn't convinced that they have helped United play the type of football Ten Hag was renowned for at Ajax and has questioned whether or not that will change in the future, either.

Ten Hag in selection U-turn!

Manuel Ugarte could make his Manchester United debut this weekend?

Let us know here.

Erik ten Hag has hinted that Manuel Ugarte could make his Premier League debut against Southampton on Saturday.

The Uruguay international joined the Red Devils on transfer deadline day last month but did not feature how PSG before completing his switch to Old Trafford.

Ten Hag had previously implied Ugarte would be eased into life at United - but the Dutchman has now declared that the midfielder is available for this weekend's trip down to the south coast.

Van de Beek has his say.

Donny van de Beek has admitted his stint at Manchester United was a nightmare for all parties - but he refused to stick the boot in on his former club.

The Dutchman was signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for £35million back in 2020 but struggled to nail down a regular first-team berth under the Norwegian, Ralf Rangnick or his former Ajax boss, Erik ten Hag.

Van de Beek finally sealed a permanent exit from Old Trafford in the summer, but he's shown great respect to his former club by refusing to speak ill of them.
