The coach of one on-loan Liverpool star has provided an update on his fitness after a recent injury.
Liverpool have a few players out on loan at several clubs, with the Reds keeping a watchful eye on each player ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer.
The likes of Ben Doak, Lewis Koumas, Owen Beck and Kaide Gordon are enjoying their loan spells, while Stefan Bajcetic, who joined Las Palmas in January, recently scored his first goal at the club.
Elsewhere, Calum Scanlon recently suffered a devastating injury and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
Liverpool also has some of the club’s more senior players out on loan, with Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips currently plying their trades in Morecambe and Derby County, respectively.
Phillips recently suffered an injury and was absent for Derby County’s 4-0 defeat to QPR last Friday.
His manager, John Eustace, has now issued a fitness update on him ahead of their weekend game.
Latest injury update on Nat Phillips
Speaking ahead of the visit of Millwall at the weekend, Eustace said about Phillips and teammate David Ozoh: “They are still touch and go really.
“It’s very important we manage those guys properly with their injury records in the past.
We’ll just have to see from there.”
Phillips has had some recurring injury niggles and only recently returned from a calf problem he picked up in the FA Cup defeat to Leyton Orient.
The Liverpool man has played 22 times for Derby County, starting 13 times.
The Englishman is fondly remembered at Liverpool for his heroics in the 2020/21 season.
The defender, alongside Rhys Williams, was instrumental in helping an injury-hit Liverpool team secure a top-four finish that season.
“I messaged Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips because we wouldn’t be there without them,” Klopp revealed after Liverpool made it to the final of the 2021/22 Champions League.
“I remember the final game of last season and they left the pitch with a bandage around the head, cuts on their faces, and that was really a symbol for the whole period.
It was such a tough season.”
However, Phillips has remained a spare tyre during much of his stay at Liverpool?
He has been linked with a permanent move away from the club.
