Manchester City have received a huge injury boost ahead of their upcoming clash against Liverpool.
Liverpool and Manchester City will renew their rivalry next month when they face at Anfield for a possible top-of-the-table clash in the Premier League.
The Reds are currently top of the league, with a five-point cushion over Pep Guardola’s side going into the 12th round.
But before the game at Anfield, Arne Slot’s side have the chance to ensure that their lead at the top remains at five points this weekend when they face Southampton.
Meanwhile, the gap between City and Liverpool could widen even further before the game, given that the Cityzens have a tough outing at the weekend against Tottenham.
Although City remain a solid side on their day, they have struggled recently due to injury problems.
The absence of influential midfielder Rodri has particularly been hard for them to manage, resulting in them losing their last four games in all competitions.
However, they are set to receive a huge boost in the coming days after three of their stars returned to first-team training.
Three Manchester City players have returned
Pep Guardiola’s side have welcomed back Kevin de Bruyne, John Stones, Jack Grealish and Manuel Akanji back in training.
All four players, including Ruben Dias, were out with several injuries before the international break?
But the aforementioned trio have now returned to training, and if they are not fit to pay this weekend, they should be available for selection when City plays Liverpool in less than a fortnight.
Meanwhile, Liverpool also welcomed three players back to the first-team training earlier this week.
The Reds, who have won 15 out of their 17 competitive games under Arne Slot, have also had their fair share of injuries, with Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, Federico Chiesa, and most recently Trent Alexander Arnold all spending some weeks on the sidelines.
