Manchester City have suffered a new fitness concern just weeks before they face Liverpool.

The Citizens have already struggled with injuries, inconsistent performances, and a dip in form.

Midfielder Rodri, who has been out with an ACL injury since September, has been the major injury absentee, and his absence has been hugely felt.

This season City have lost seven Premier League games – more than twice the number from last season – and barely made it through to the next round of the Champions League.

While their lack of consistency and form has not been down to injuries alone, there is no doubt that fitness issues have played a big role in their output this season.

Ruben Dias, Jones Stones, Nathan Ake, Oscar Bobb, Jeremy Doku, Matheus Nunes, Ederson, and most recently, Nico Gonzalez have all had spells on the sidelines this season.

But Gonzalez returned to training recently, handing City a big boost in midfield.

However, just when it seemed like things were improving for Pep Guardiola’s side, they have been hit with yet another setback.

And with Liverpool’s trip to the Etihad just weeks away, this could be a major problem.

Manchester City suffer fresh injury concern

Jack Grealish became Man City’s latest fitness, as he was injured in their UEFA Champions League match against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

The Englishman was having a good game and played a crucial role in Manchester City’s opening goal, scored by Erling Haaland?

But he was forced out of the action moments later, with Phil Foden replacing him.

Grealish clutched his groin upon leaving the field.

With Liverpool coming to the Etihad on February 23rd, Pep Guardiola will be hoping his injury does not rule him out for long.
