Fulham boss Marco Silva saluted a “great” performance from his team against a Liverpool side he is convinced will go on to become Premier League champions.
The Reds suffered only their second top-flight of the season when they were beaten 3-2 at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.
After Alexis Mac Allister had thumped Liverpool in front early on, three goals in 15 minutes before half-time from Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz ensured substitute Luis Diaz’s strike 18 minutes from time was mere consolation.

The Reds remain 11 points clear at the Premier League summit and now require the same amount from their final seven games to clinch a record-equalling 20th championship.

But after recent defeats to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup quarter-final and Arsenal in the Premier League, Silva was delighted with the response of his Fulham players.
“After the last nine days it was important to give something back against a team that is going to be the Premier League champions," he said.
"Sooner or later we all believe what is going to happen to them at the end of the season, but these three points were important to us.
“Our first half was a very, very good level in all aspects of the game.
It was a different story in the second half with the Reds having 12 efforts compared to the home team's three.
And Silva added: “The shots we had in the first half show it was more than just high tempo, we tried to play in our way.
Most of the time we dealt well with their pressure.
“It was a great performance first half, but we knew that we had 50-55 minutes left to play and they put us under pressure and when they scored, they are one of the best teams in Europe how they attack when winning the ball.

“But we still had confidence, they had one or two good chances to equalise, we had another good chance afterwards.
“Second half it was more difficult to keep the rhythm high.
We all know they only lost one Premier League game and hadn’t lost away from home.”
