Arsenal know they are not where they want to be in the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta’s team had high expectations this season, but things have not gone as planned.
They have struggled for goals in recent weeks and find themselves 16 points behind league leaders Liverpool.
This is not the first time Arsenal have been in this situation.
Last season, they led the table for most of the campaign but were overtaken by Manchester City.
Now, they are looking for a way back into the title race.
A big 7-1 win over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League could be the spark they need.
Martin Odegaard believes there is still hope.
Martin Odegaard on title race: We’ll fight until the end
The Arsenal captain has made it clear that his team will keep fighting.
“We’ll fight until the end,” he said via the club’s official site.
“That’s the mindset of everyone.”
He remembers how close they came last season and believes anything can happen.
“We’ve been fighting three years in a row for the title and you go a couple of years back then we were leading with a lot of points and then we finished second.”
“It shows that everything is possible.”
Odegaard admitted that Arsenal have made things difficult for themselves.
“We’ve put ourselves in a difficult position at the moment but we have to keep going,” he said.
He is hoping for a strong finish, just like last season.
“Hopefully we can – like last year – hit the top form towards the end and then we’ll see where that takes us in the league and also in the Champions League.”
The road ahead is tough, but Arsenal are not giving up.
The gunners will try and cut the gap between themselves and Liverpool as they face Manchester United at Old Trafford later today.
