Luis Diaz has been in tremendous form for Liverpool in recent weeks.
The Colombian has been a key player for Arne Slot this season as the Dutch coach has trusted the 28-year-old to play through the middle in his front three.
An injury to Cody Gakpo against Everton last month saw the former Porto star return to his preferred position on the left wing and the winger has given Slot a headache as Liverpool fans have loved Diaz’s performances since the change.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Colombia international now that Gakpo has returned to full fitness as the Dutch star has also been in great form this season.
Diaz’s numbers are up since moving back out wide and the Liverpool star will want to remain there as he has a personal target he wants to reach before the campaign concludes.

Diaz has already admitted to having personal goals at Liverpool earlier in the season with the winger stating that he wants to improve his numbers with every season that passes.
The Colombian assisted Liverpool’s opening goal against Newcastle on Wednesday night and with that surpassed Hugo Rodallega (12) to become the third Colombian with the most assists in the entire history of the Premier League.

The 28-year-old is currently on 13, with Juan Pablo Angel (14) and Faustino Asprilla (14) the two players Diaz is trying to take down next to be the sole holder of the record.
Diaz is also ranked fourth among his Colombian compatriots when it comes to goals scored, with the winger looking to eventually surpass Angel’s leading tally of 44 after first chasing down Rodallega (29) and then Hamilton Ricard (31).
Speaking to Liverpool.com about the record, Diaz stated that he has made it a personal goal to break it in the future.
“Now and again, I find out about the stats when people post them on social media.
That’s key for us all now – to give a positive image of our country, just like they all did.”
Given the uncertainty over the future of Diaz at Liverpool, this may indicate where the 28-year-old’s heart lies.
Diaz is unlikely to break this record this season as the winger is currently requires 20 goals to surpass Angel.
To do this, the Colombian will need to remain at Anfield for another season but the 28-year-old could be sold this summer as it is being suggested that Liverpool will not offer Diaz a new contract when his current deal expires in 2027.
Diaz has been heavily linked to Barcelona in recent months with his representatives recently denying that he has been offered to the Catalan giants.
Neymar could save Liverpool from losing Diaz as the Brazilian has held talks with Barca over a sensational return this summer, but that move is not guaranteed.
There is still a lot that can happen regarding the Colombian’s future but it seems clear that the player wants to remain at Liverpool, therefore, it is in the Merseyside club’s hands.
