Micah Richards completely misses Liverpool point in ridiculous claim after Arsenal controversy

Micah Richards has called the controversial sending-off of Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly against Wolves the ‘worst decision in Premier League history’ - a claim Liverpool fans will no doubt take issue with.

The fallout from Lewis-Skelly’s red card continues after the Arsenal youngster was given his marching orders for catching Matt Doherty near the edge of the Wolves penalty area as the hosts looked to break at Molineux.

Referee Michael Oliver wasted little time in sending the 18-year-old off, having deemed Lewis-Skelly’s challenge to be serious foul play.

Although the left-back did raise his foot, many pundits have argued it should have just been a yellow card.

Richards is the latest to voice his grievances, going on an extraordinary rant during the Rest is Football podcast.

“That’s the worst decision I have ever seen in Premier League football history,” Richards sensationally began.

“Michael Oliver, yes I think he’s top.

But if you look at the magnitude of that decision, it was so poor, and then for them to double down on the decision, I just think it’s shocking.”

Of course, Liverpool fans will rightly point out that Richards has clearly overlooked a more infamous example for the ‘worst decision in Premier League history’, with Lewis Skelly’s sending-off not even the worst in the last 18 months.

Despite VAR having all the tools at their disposal and coming to the conclusion that the Colombian was in fact not offside when he scored during the first half, somehow the wrong decision was still made - and there can be absolutely no disputing that fact.

As much as the consensus is that Lewis-Skelly should not have been sent off, it is still a judgement call, and there will be those that would argue that, having gone in with his foot raised, the red card may have been the right call

The fact that Arsenal went on to win against Wolves once again lessens Richards’ claim.

So, no Micah, Lewis-Skelly’s red card is not the worst decision in Premier League history
