Liverpool legend Michael Owen has described Conor Bradley as "bursting" with ambition as the youngster sets his sights on establishing himself as an Anfield regular.
While conceding that losing Alexander Arnold would be a major blow for Liverpool, Owen is convinced that his current back-up has what it takes to step up in his absence - if he is to depart.
He opined on on Premier League Productions: "You would prefer to have Trent in your squad, absolutely.
He’s just come on and won Liverpool the game, he’s got some things that are different to everyone else.
It would have been a disaster if Virgil and Mo hadn’t signed, but I think you have to give Conor Bradley his due, he’s been bursting to get into that Red shirt, and he deserves a bigger chance now."
.
Meanwhile, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher also presented the case for Bradley being given the remaining five games of the league season to stake his claim in the right-back position
Conor Bradley shouldn't look at Trent and think, 'I want to be like him.'"
Providing some advice to the former Bolton Wanderers loanee, he continued: "He's got to be like Andy Robertson was when he was in his prime, a proper full-back, up and down, aggressive at the winger, maybe overlapping, getting crosses in, underlapping is what the Liverpool full-backs like to do.
"So you're not going to be able to replace him, so forget that, but the big decision Liverpool have, or a couple of decisions between now and the end of the season," he then professed, before adding: ""If Trent hasn't committed, which he hasn't obviously, to the manager for next season, he shouldn't be starting games."
