However, as frustrating as Liverpool's 2-0 win over Man City was, Arteta says they are not giving up.
There's so many games to play, we have to get back to it, the levels of consistency and the hunger to go again, that's what we're going to do again.
"You cannot control that [Liverpool's run], in the end you're going to have a certain amount of numbers to win the league, we're going to have to hit that number if we're going to have any chance to do that, we're certainly going to try.
"It's been incredibly satisfying to work with the players and the staff to overcome situations.
If somebody tells you by this stage of the season, you have played five times with a red card over half-an-hour in each of those games and you have lost this amount of players, what's the bet you're in the middle of the table at least?

"The thing is when you're there, you want more and more and more, I'm not going to stop over my dead body stop thinking that way to increase that probability of us winning and being better than the opponent - hitting those standards regardless of what happens."
He continued: "Mathematically it is possible, you have to play every game.
If you want to win the Premier League, you're going to have to do something special.
"You're going to have to win this Premier League with the circumstances we have, probably have to do something no one has done in the history."
