Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta stormed out of his post-match interview after his side's 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Sunday after appearing to be agitated by the line of questioning.

The Gunners lost further ground on Premier League leaders Liverpool after the result at Old Trafford and the Spaniard looked frustrated after appearing for his media obligations.

Arteta was repeatedly pressed on Arsenal's defensive wall before Bruno Fernandes' opener from a free kick and was then asked if he could excuse the players for failing to beat an under-par United side amid their injury crisis.

A visibly irritated Arteta replied: "I will defend my players all the time because the will to win, there is no question about that.

Arteta appeared agitated by questions about Arsenal's failure to sign a striker and the title race.

Arteta refused to answer and instead brushed past Davison to end the interview abruptly.

Arsenal's Premier League title bid looks all but over after the result, which saw Declan Rice's effort cancel out Fernandes' beautifully taken free kick as the Gunners struggled to carve open a struggling United side that are currently languishing in mid-table.

The Gunners came into the game with huge confidence after hammering PSV 7-1 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash in midweek, but Europe is now their only realistic chance of silverware.

Arsenal still have a game in hand over Liverpool but the Reds are only 16 points away from securing the title.

Arne Slot's team only need five more wins and a draw to win their first league crown since 2020, even if Arsenal win the rest of their games.
