Mohamed Salah became the latest player to earn a post-match discussion with Pep Guardiola after the Liverpool star almost single-handedly destroyed Manchester City in their 2-0 win on Sunday.

The Egyptian winger continued his incredible form at the Etihad Stadium, scoring his 30th goal of the season and setting up Dominik Szoboszlai for his 20th assist in all competitions.

After watching the 32-year-old dismantle his dismal City side, footage shared on on social media showed that Guardiola bumped into the Reds forward in the tunnel after the game.

It's well-documented that Guardiola's passion for the game means he often engages in lively post-game chats, with Nathan Redmond and Cole Palmer some of his famous recipients of his trademark conversations.

This time, the Catalan coach cornered Salah by the wall, gesticulating wildly and grinning back towards the camera on several occasions.

But it all appeared to be good-natured and Salah seemed to enjoy their intimate chat, as he smiled and laughed while lapping up the attention from the City boss.

The 54-year-old, who watched his side lose to Liverpool at home for the first time in a decade, insisted he was 'proud' of their display and hinted at what he may have told Salah in his press conference.

When asked if he targeted Liverpool's full-backs, he said: “We have good wingers.

They defend inside and Salah defended today much, much more than the previous games where he stayed more up front.

I know the people don’t believe it and I know when we have played really good and today was a really good performance.”

Salah is on track to surpass his previous best goal tally of 32 goals in a Premier League season with 25 in 27 games already, and the veteran winger also has Thierry Henry's long-standing assists record in his sights as he is just four away from equalling the Frenchman.

After it was put to him that it could be his best season, Salah told Sky Sports: “I don’t know.

Maybe people prefer my first seasons or now but I prefer now because winning the league, helping the young players, it is special.

He added: "We need another title.

Me and the big guys in the team, we need another title."

It was a momentous weekend for Liverpool as they moved 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League, after watching Arsenal lose 1-0 at home to West Ham.

Arne Slot's men face a challenging month ahead with the Champions League last-16 tie against PSG, followed by the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle.

But with Salah firing on all cylinders, Slot will have Merseyside dreaming of emulating Guardiola's treble from 2022-23.
