The prospect of Salah taking a pay cut has reportedly never been on the agenda during contract talks despite claims that the player's age - he turns 33 in mid-June - would mean facing a reduced wage in order to stay at the club.
The Times reports this was acknowledged during negotiations over the financial terms.
When Salah signed his current contract in July 2022, the suggestion was he would earn weekly wages of around £350,000.
That was a significant rise on the player's previous reported salary, which was £200,000, and made him the highest-paid player in club history.
Multiple national media outlets, including the Athletic, the Mail and The Times, report that both players are signing two-year contracts to stay at Liverpool until the summer of 2027.
That could potentially see their new terms expire simultaneously with several Liverpool team-mates.
