Liverpool has made significant progress in its contract negotiations with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, following the latter's recent acknowledgement of ongoing discussions between his representatives and the club regarding a new deal.

Pay cut claim

Despite rumours suggesting that Salah's age - he turns 33 in June - could result in a pay cut to remain at Anfield, it has reportedly never been a point of discussion during contract talks.

The Times has reported that this was acknowledged during the financial negotiations.

When Salah inked his current contract in July 2022, it was suggested that he would earn weekly wages of around $451,000.

This represented a substantial increase from his previous reported salary of $258,000, making him the highest-paid player in Liverpool's history.

Salah and Van Dijk contract lengths

Several national media outlets, including The Athletic, the Mail and The Times, report that both players are signing two-year contracts to stay at Liverpool until the summer of 2027

This could result in their contracts ending at the same time as several other Liverpool players

Alisson, Conor Bradley, Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota, Harvey Elliott, Joe Gomez, Kostas Tsimikas, Luis Diaz and Wataru Endo all have contracts that run until July 2027
