Mohamed Salah has already made clear the threat that Omar Marmoush will pose to Liverpool when they face Manchester City.

The Reds take on City in the Premier League this weekend as they travel to the Etihad Stadium searching for all three points.

Liverpool will go into the game having been held to a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa in midweek and have an eight-point lead over second-placed Arsenal in the table, having played one game more.

It's possible that the Reds' lead at the top of the table will be reduced to five points by the time kick-off arrives, with Arsenal hosting West Ham on Saturday.

The game between Liverpool and City will see Salah go up against Marmoush for the first time in his career.

Marmoush was heavily linked with signing for the Reds before he moved to the Etihad in January in a deal reported to be worth €70million (£58million).

Salah and Marmoush have played alongside one another for Egypt, making 26 appearances for their country together.

Sunday, though, will see the duo on opposite sides, and Salah has already explained why he does not want to see comparisons made between himself and his compatriot.

"There are not many players from Egypt and the Arab countries who went to Europe and fought for success, and Marmoush is one of them," Salah said, speaking at the Sharjah International Book Fair in November.

"I see that he has great potential, he is an important player for his team and the national team, I want to stay away from the idea of comparisons to make his life easier.

"I want people to stop comparing him to me, by saying that he will be the new Salah and will do what he did and overcome, that will put him under pressure all the time and does not help the player.

"It will put him in comparison with a player who has been very successful over the past years, but he is still starting his career.
