Pundit Alan Shearer has happily admitted that Mohamed Salah has exceeded his expectations weighed against the looming end of his Liverpool contract.

Doing all that is possible to win the Premier League title, the Egyptian is 12 goals and three assists from achieving the most of each field in a single campaign.

Relentless is the word when it comes to Salah with his goal scoring and creating this campaign, but not only those qualities are to be admired - his leadership as now one of the senior members of the Liverpool squad has been exemplary.



This has been the case even when he has not publicly been confirmed a player for the club next season or beyond as a contract saga has gone on longer than feared.

"I think without a doubt that this is the best version of Mo Salah we've seen," Shearer began to tell Betfair.

"I said earlier in the season that we should see what happens in terms of a one percent drop in his levels due to his contract situation; but that hasn't happened, on the contrary he seems to be getting even better and stronger as the season goes on."

In blanket terms Liverpool are where they were at the start of the season - Salah has not renewed terms so will leave if it stays that way, and the player himself has clarified this week there is no update to bring.
