Mohamed Salah is reportedly set to miss Egypt's international camp in June as the Liverpool star looks to manage his workload.

Salah has enjoyed an outstanding season so far, netting 32 goals and providing 22 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.

Salah is out of contract at the end of the season, but recent reports have claimed that he is close to agreeing a new deal with Liverpool.

The forward will turn 33 in June and Liverpool will be hoping he can replicate his form next season.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Salah is planning to 'fully focus on resting his body after a long and arduous campaign' this summer and intends to skip Egypt's international camp in June as a result.

Salah was in contention to feature for Egypt at the Paris Olympics last summer as one of the three over-23 age players allowed in every nation's squad, but he ultimately decided not to go so he could play a full part in Liverpool's pre-season as they entered a new era under Arne Slot.

The report states that this decision is viewed as a key factor in Salah's excellent run of form this season, with the winger enjoying a full rest after a long campaign that saw Liverpool win the Carabao Cup and go deep in the Europa League and FA Cup.

Egypt may also benefit from Salah's decision as they will want him fully fit and firing ahead of a busy year of international action, including World Cup qualifiers, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup.

Egypt are well-placed to qualify for next year's tournament, with Salah's side currently top of their group by five points with four games left to play.

It would be Egypt's fourth appearance at a World Cup, having last featured at the 2018 tournament.

Salah has experienced a dip in form in recent weeks, having failed to score in four consecutive games for Liverpool.

However, Slot remains confident that Salah is merely experiencing a slight setback and will soon rediscover his form.

"Maybe he should see it as a compliment [that people are talking about it] because his numbers were not normal [when he was scoring]," Slot told BBC Match of the Day after Liverpool's 3-2 defeat to Fulham.

"The good thing about Mo is he knows what kind of player he is.

If you play 50 to 60 games a season, even for Virgil, there will be one or two moments where he could have done better.
