Mohamed Salah's former Liverpool teammate has given a reassuring contract update on the Egyptian.

The 32-year-old is yet to resolve his long-term future past this season and is already a quarter of the way through the final 12 months of his contract at Anfield, raising concerns over whether or not he will remain a Liverpool player past the end of the current campaign.

It appears both parties remain keen for him to stay on Merseyside, although the clock is ticking and sooner or later other clubs will be able to approach the winger with pre-contract agreements if he doesn't sign a new deal.

However, former Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian has provided some positivity for Reds fans ahead of the next few months.

The Spaniard, who left Liverpool at the end of last season upon the expiry of his own contract, is confident there is every reason to believe Salah will not be going anywhere.

Speaking to Egyptian publication WinWin, the Real Betis shot-stopper said: “It’s his final year on his contract with Liverpool, I know the group there loves him, the fans love him, he loves the group and the city, the experience he had at Liverpool is huge.

“I can’t see Mohamed Salah playing for another team in the Premier League, so obviously if he has the opportunity to renew at Liverpool, the best chance and the best option is to stay at the club and continue as one of the most experienced players in the dressing room."

Salah had attracted attention from Saudi Arabia as far back as last summer but has since shown no interest in moving to the Middle East as things stand.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian said he can't see Mohamed Salah leaving Liverpool.

However, there has also been suggestions that Salah is not interested in moving to the riches of Saudi Arabia just yet and wants to continue performing at the highest level, having seen how the likes of Sadio Mane have fared since joining one of its clubs.

“I don’t really know [about Saudi interest], this is a question for Mohamed Salah but obviously the reports and rumors were there, the news and the newspapers said so, but I saw that he was happy at the club,” Adrian said.

“Obviously that happened last year when we were together, and we talked about it, but it was clear that he wanted to stay at the club

As I said, he is now in the last year of his contract with the club, I don’t know if they have already started talking to him about renewing the contract or opening the way for him to leave the club, but I can’t see Mohamed Salah currently outside Liverpool.”

Salah started the current season on fire with three goals and three assists in Liverpool's first three games, helping Arne Slot enjoy a 100 per cent winning start to his tenure at Anfield
