Michael Owen believes that Trent Alexander-Arnold will leave Liverpool for Real Madrid this summer.
As he made the same transfer decision 21 years ago, the former striker says this will not change his view of the full-back as a Reds hero.
As things stand, Alexander-Arnold is set to leave the club at the end of this season.
Liverpool turned down an approach from the La Liga champions at the end of December in a move that may have been the final opportunity for Arne Slot's side to recoup a fee for the defender.
And opening up on the situation Alexander-Arnold finds himself in, Owen said: "Trent knows that he is going to win trophies, but it’s about whether he wants to go and live in a new country with other great players and have great weather, eat great food and speak a different language.

"You’d probably say Real Madrid on league titles as there is less competition, but you’d probably say Liverpool are the better team as things stand.
"My gut feeling is that he will go because otherwise why would it be getting so late in the day to arrange a new contract?

"He will always have that Liver bird ingrained in his heart just like I did, just like [Steve] McManaman did, just like Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler and Steven Gerrard.
“Once you've been at the club for so long and come through the ranks your feelings will never change but he's got a life to live and maybe he wants a change.
"But whether he does or not, my view on him won't be tainted one way or the other and it shouldn't for anybody else either."
