Ange Postecoglou laughs in conversation with Tottenham's chief football officer Scott Munn at Ibrox
Arne Slot joked that he was being overly positive about Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham Hotspur side when previewing Liverpool’s trip to Spurs this weekend.
And while Slot might have rejected them in 2023, his admiration for the Reds’ latest opponents and their manager is clear.
“I have said so many positive things now, about him and his style that if I say another thing, it seems like I am his agent!” the Dutchman would joke to reporters.

“I really have to give them credit because if I look at Tottenham and I come from Holland, but I did watch a lot of Match of the Day, I think about [David] Ginola, Paul Gascoigne, Glenn Hoddle, and more recently [Luka] Modric and, for me, Rafael van der Vaart...
But I'm completely a fan of his team for the Europa League because people always talk about trophies, trophies, trophies [and] that it's so important.
“For his brand of football and his style, it is so much more important and if he can combine that with winning something that would be so good for football in general because people can stop talking about it's too attacking or whatever.
Postecoglou is actually a self-confessed Liverpool supporter, with their ‘pass and move’ mantra from the seventies and eighties helping influence his own preferred playing style as a manager.
"Late 70s, early 80s (I was a Liverpool fan),” the Australian said at his own pre-match press conference.
“My first was probably around ’74 FA Cup, Liverpool.
“I loved the whole pass-and-move Liverpool style.
Fair to say they went away from that after a while, but a lot of my early recollections and enjoyment of football came from that style of game."
Consequently, perhaps it is no surprise that Postecoglou recently admitted that he was left starstruck after meeting one Liverpool legend - Sir Kenny Dalglish.

“Yeah, all the time,” he said, when asked if he’d ever been ‘starstruck’ by someone during a round of 20 Questions for TNT Sports.
